The Osun State Police Command on Thursday arrested a Corps Member who served as an Ad-Hoc staff of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Orji Desmond Nkenna (29) for allegedly colluding leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State to shortchange a Voter’s ID Card for financial gains.
According to the Press Release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Yemisi Opalola made available to SOJ WORLDWIDE http://(www.sojworldnews.com) said the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Olokode warned that the command will deal decisively with anyone who indulge in electoral malpractices.
It was discovered that the Chieftains of the PDP, Wale Ojo and Ijamakinwa OlaOluwa whom the Corps Member implicated are now at large.
“On 30th June, 2022 at about 1040hrs, the complainant reported at Osu Division that, on 29th June, 2022, at about 1000hrs, he went to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), office located at Atakumosa West Local Government Area, Osu, Osun State to collect his permanent Voter’s Card but could not find it. He consequently demanded for the register and discovered that, one Orji Desmond Nkenna, a corps member attached to INEC office as an Ad-Hoc staff in charge of Voter’s Card distribution has collected his PVC on the order of one Wale Ojo and Ijamakinwa Olaoluwa now at large both members of People Democratic Party (PDP) for financial transaction.
On receiptof the complaint, police detective immediately swung into action and arrested the principal suspect along with the INEC supervisor to the alleged corps member Mrs Makanjuola Bilahu ‘f’ aged 58 years and one Mr. Oluwatobi Ogini ‘m’ aged 32 years to investigate the level of their involvement.
Meanwhile, the police is on the trail of the fleeing suspects. The suspects will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
Consequence upon the fast approach to Osun State Gubernatorial election in July, 2022, Osun State Police Command has embarked on raiding of black spots within the state to fish out criminal elements perpetrating crime in the state. 18 suspected criminals were arrested. They are currently undergoing interrogation.

The Commissioner of Police is using this medium to advice the members of the public to shun all forms of electoral malpractices/offences, as the Command is fully prepared to deal decisively with anyone caught in such act. Also, he enjoins the good people of the state to give prompt and useful information that could assist the police to nip in the bud all kinds of crimes/electoral malpractices.”
