2023: ACCORD Party dissociates party from list of illegal candidates released by INEC in Lagos, waiting for court judgement

THE Acting Chairman of the ACCORD Party in Lagos State, Dele Oladeji has declared the list of illegal candidates of the party released by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) as illegal and unconstitutional.

Oladeji made the statement at the Party State Secretariat, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 in a Press Conference attended by the party Chieftains across the State.

In his welcome address, Oladeji told newsmen about the purported expulsion of the BOT Chairman, by the illegal National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Mohamodu Naladi who wanted to remain in office after he has spent14 years.

He described the action of the National Chairman as illegal and unconstitutional.

The issue of the INEC recognition of Hakeem Dickson who had served a prison term of three years in United States of America give credence to the fact that the party could not have endorsed Dickson to represent the party at the 2023 governorship election in Lagos State. According to him, Accord Party is party known for peace, equity, fairness and justice.

He affirmed the candidacy of Pastor Peter Obayuwana as the authentic Governorship candidate in Lagos State.

“Obayuwana is the only candidate recognized by the party,” he said.

Oladeji said the party is earnestly waiting for the Court directive on INEC to replace the names of the illegal candidates and replace it with the authentic candidates approved by the party in their server.

“Whatever offices that comes from Engr. Beckeley is illegal and any list from INEC in Lagos are illegal. The list are not the representatives and legitimate candidates of the party in Lagos State. These are the party men he has suspended at one time or the or the other.”, Oladeji said.

He went further that the party is waiting for Court judgment that will legitimize the list of the candidates in due time.

In another development, all the party leaders at the meeting said the party do not have any Presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential elections.

It was further said that former Lagos State Chairman, Engineer Joseph Beckeley has been removed from the party hence he can no longer parade himself as the authentic Chairman of the party.

In the course of the conference, the Governorship Candidate of the party. Pastor Obayuwana told newsmen how he would transform the state better better than how it is today in the areas of health. education, electricity and other areas to bring good
governance nearest to the people.

The Youth Leader, Hon Timi went into the memory lane narrating how Dickson was convicted of financial crime. He absconded before serving the jail the jail term (Copy of US Court given to Pressmen). Based on this, he cannot be parading himself as the governorship candidate of Accord Party at the detriment of its Constitution.

In his address, the Senatorial Candidate representing Lagos Central, Hon Olatunji Samuel Adigun said the people in his senatorial should be expecting his positive performance in Bill proposal, oversight functions and massive Constituency Projects the Senate represents if elected into office.

The party Chairman, Oladeji noted that the party will call for peace reconciliation between it and others as soon as the court delivered its judgement. The party will harmonise vacant positions in favour of those who have paid their registration fees to Dickson unknown to them that it was illegal.
