UPDATE: Monarch-Oloyere of Oyere, Ewi Poet remanded in prison custody for spreading negative reports against Ooni of Ife.

The Osun Magistrate Court, Ile-Ife has remanded Oloyere of Oyere, Oba Adeoye Adefarakan and a Poet, Abidemi Habeeb over hate speeches against Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Christian Olajide, told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in November, 2017 at Ile-Ife.
He said the accused chanted and sang songs causing hatred, ridicule, spreading rumour and negative report against the Ife monarch.

The accused persons have made confessional statements on the roles they played to malign the Ooni of Ife on an audio Ewi (poem) released to the public which was laced with hate speeches against revered Monarch.
The accused monarch pleaded not guilty and wish to be tried in High Court while Ewi poet had no objection to his trial at the Magistrate Court.

According to the prosecutor, the actions of the accused affected the reputation of Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi and exposed him to ridicule.
The Judge, Ademola Olowolagba ordered the accused to be remanded in prison pending the consideration of their bail application.

The case was eventually adjourned to March 16, 2018 while police promised to intensify investigation to bring others to book, other suspect including Dr Ramon Adedoyin who is being expected by the police.
