The Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye was trapped at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
Fierce looking policemen were seen keeping vigil till late in the night waiting for the arrest of the Senator.
His present offence was not immediately known.
Senator Melaye was yesterday arraigned in the Federal High Court following a suit against him by the Federal government over alleged false assassination claims.
The road leading to the high court was barricaded by heavily armed personnel of the Special Anti robbery squad (SARS).

The court premises has also been sealed off, as all attempts to gain entry proved abortive.
Our reporter also gathered from sources locked in the premises of the court that the SARS operative have been given a directive to arrest the lawmaker if he makes any move to exit the Federal High Court.
It was gathered that the security personnel were dispatched from Lagos.
However, Melaye said in a tweet from inside the court building that Governor Yahaya Bello, his state governor and political rival, was responsible for his latest ordeal. “After the court refused the application of the Federal Government to refuse me bail. Governor Yahaya Bello is using SARS and policemen from Kogi State Government house, Lokoja, who have taken over the FCT high Court to arrest and poison me on the way to Lokoja.

“You will recall that I alerted the nation 2 weeks ago that plans have been perfected to frame me up with fake charges by Kogi State Govt. my resolve is total. I shall not be intimidated. I will continue to speak the truth,” Melaye tweeted.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson to the governor, Gbenga Olorunpomi, denied the allegation, Thursday night.
