Inside story of Senator Dino Melaye’s running battles with Nigerian Police in the past 24 hours – A drama worth scripted into a movie

Early Monday morning, news filtered around that Senator Dino Melaye was arrested by the Immigration on his way to Morocco for an official assignment. Hours later, information had it that the embattled senator has been released.
The police said they do not have any hand in his arrest. Within hours of Senator Melaye’s release from Immigration custody, same police numbering over 30 fully armed besieged his residence in Abuja placing him on house arrest.
Authoritative information released to SOJ WORLDWIDE had it that Senator Melaye was not even in the house they surrounded. Even if Melaye was indoor, why laying a siege on an unarmed senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when Nigerians are crying of insecurity.

According to Melaye, all policemen guarding him have been taken away by a superior officer.
The embattled senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye said he cannot be intimidated or cowed by any power that be.
He gave many insights into his recent battles with the Federal Government led Nigerian Police who besieged his residence with over 30 armed stern looking policemen surrounding a man who is not armed.
From Senator Melaye official Tweet this morning he said, “A man without arm, no security yet you mobilise 150 policemen to invite him. And those who committed Treason are free. We shall not be intimidated or cowed. Struggle continues.”

He went further, “I will make myself available to the police today. My resolve to speak the truth and defend the poor masses of NIGERIA is Total. We shall overcome!!!”
“All my policemen have been taken away with their arms. One CP came and took them away. There is also a plan to set me up again. But in God I trust. Truth will always prevail.”
“We are in a civil society. No warrant and case is in court yet this lawlessness. I’m a responsible NIGERIAN and law abiding. There is a plan to kill me and I know about it. We are not in a banana republic. I cannot be silenced.”

As at yesterday after the release of the controversial senator, he cried to the world on his official Twitter page, “Over 30 heavily armed fierce looking mobile police men have just stormed my residence in Maitama, Abuja.”
“All roads leading to House has been condoned off, as heavy mobile police men blocked entry & exit of the road. They currently laid siege on in and around the house.”
