The truth is that Senator Dino Melaye has stepped on many toes especially those who are supposed to rescue him at this troubled times. He had running battles with Senator Remi Tinubu, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Sahara Reporters, Director General of Customs, Ibrahim Ali, President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, Hon. Abiodun Faleke. These are the people I can authoritatively say I know.

Left for me, I would say let him face his predicaments squarely but the Yoruba adage says “omo eni ko le buru ka fif’ekun paje” (No matter how wicked your child may be, you cannot throw him into the den of lion to devour).
The irony of his battles could be termed, “what goes around comes around.” Should I say it is nemesis?
The Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello whom he helped to install as governor is the one at the centre of his predicament today. He said Yahaya Bello was a “God sent”. At the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja where he is presently handcuffed receiving medical attention, can he still maintain that Yahaya Bello was a God sent?

In all of the above, Senator Melaye could be stubborn and controversial, he should not be denied a fair trial.
If the hardened criminal who implicated Senator Melaye said he received arms from him at Abuja why can’t he be tried in Abuja? Why is the police behaving as if they are playing out a script with Yahaya Bello to get the embattled senator out of the way at all costs as alleged by the senator? There are many questions begging for answers.
In all of these, Senator Melaye has his good sides; he is the most vocal senator at the 8th Assembly. He has sponsored many bills more than every other senator. He, most times moved motions in the defense of defenseless people in the society. He had been fighting for the masses ever before he came to the National Assembly.

It is unfortunate that we left the substance and continue chasing the shadow.
At a time all Nigerians ought to rise up against 24/7 bloodletting by herdsmen across the country we are busy talking about whether the youths are lazy or not.
Do we really have blood in our vein?
Anytime I read news of scores of innocent people shot dead by herdsmen/gunmen I remember the last book written by Chinua Achebe before his death, “THERE WAS A COUNTRY.”
My beloved country is swimming in blood of little children, women, defenseless men yet people are struggling for power in 2019 pretending that all is well. Melaye is not our problem now but the shedding of innocent blood.

Judgment and wrath of God is coming very soon on those who are behind these killings.
This is vintage Senator Dino Melaye one of the most outspoken senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria saying it the way it should be.
Senator Melaye might not be a good messenger but we must not ignore his message, they are relevant for the emancipation of the common man.
The police should exercise caution and neutrality in handling the issue of this embattled senator. The police must not be seen to throw away the baby with the basket.
In a nutshell, Senator Dino Melaye must not die in their custody.
