The wife of the former Publicity Secretary of the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Dr (Mrs) Joe Odumakin while speaking on Friday after the corpse of her husband, Yinka Odumakin was received by Osun State Government said Yinka has taken part of her with him and she took part of him with her.
Mrs Odumakin whose marriage with Yinka Odumakin took place at Alagbon where the duo were detained along with Chief Gani Fawehinmi of blessed memory for fighting for human rights in Nigeria was calm while delivering her comments.
“The governor himself has called several times. I remember when he (Yinka Odumakin) was here around December 9, 2020, this state did a lot.”
“Here lies the remains of my husband, comrade, my friend, a soulmate, a part of me has been taken by him but the part of him I owned. All the ceremonies will be done, he will beinterred but he will be buried in my heart.”
“And I want to say that if I come back to this world over and over again, this is the Comrade I would marry.”
“I want to thank you for this great reception at this sober moments, a moment when a Spokesperson stops speaking…but our consolation is that Yinka’s ideals, his legacies will continue to live forever.’
The Osun State Government was represented by the Chief of Staff to Governor Oyetola, Mr Charles Akinola who described Odumakin as a freedom fighter, a renowned human rights activist.
