If I had been a PDP Legislator serving or former and taking stocks of my achievements today as a former member of the House of Representatives I probably will not be happy with myself but thank God I am a progressive person from birth.

Though, I would have been so rich today as a PDP legislator with people and enjoying respect from many government quarters especially from my former colleagues in the NASS and so also from the Financial sectors of our economy with my series of contributions as a former member of the House Committee on Finance that stream lined so many policies.

How many of them identified even with the embattled former Committee Chairman, “Jibrin the lone ranger” , my party is still in control of the State, Local and Federal Government? Even at that I still feel unfulfilled by our ways.

The Nollywood Industry would have seen me more as their Ambassador because the Culture Minister, Tourist Board etc. I would have reached my colleagues in the industry more compared to the manner in which they run the selective implementation of the 3 billion Naira grant domiciled in the Bank of Industry.

The money meant to promote the entertainment industry which was approved by the very NASS of 7th Assembly to which I was a strong facilitator as a member of Culture and Tourism Committee but these agencies dealt with us at arm’s length because I was more like a member of the opposition even as I remained in the party.

Had it been I remain in the house, NNPC/PPMC that I served meritoriously for 20 years perhaps I would still have been channelling most of their issues in the House through me. As usual and perhaps that would have made them to develop interest in those fantastic Bill on Pipelines vandalism that no longer see the light of the day again. And that would have availed the organization the opportunity to guide them in the unfruitful contracts they gave to some ex militants in the name of protecting NNPC properties across Nigeria.

But Honorable Makinde ‘na Buhari kindergarten guy’ that climbed the NASS gate to protect his friend Rt Hon Speaker Aminu Tambuwal for fun.

It was also very clear to me that my private attempt to float a radio station (Oodua FM) in Ile-Ife to reduce unemployment and to promote Art and Culture would have been lauded more by the PDP set of people who seems to cherish achiever as noble contributor and the project would have been commissioned with several Ministers and governors in attendance.

But ‘God damned it’ I am a mere Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu “grand son” who moved patriotic motions to seek just relevancy and attention for those prison inmates across the nation…’Ki lo ba de.’

Ordinarily my motion to cause the waiver of tuition fees for prisoners in the Open University could have gotten me a National Award as M.O.N but Alas! I am a poor blind lieutenant of Ogbeni Aregbesola, the uncommon governor in Southwest and in Nigeria as a country!

The Nigeria Police Force NPF would have thanked me for originating a Bill to seek Provision of Arms and Ammunitions for every man and woman of the police force especially for those who have served 10 years and above. ‘Chai, I dey dis Chief Oyegun party!’ No way!

It is only in Nigeria that we see policemen running from crime scene, but yet successive governments never cared a dime!.

Well, I am a proud member of ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS APC. Not just only that, I feel fulfilled with my name intact. It is on record that another patriotic motion was sponsored by me to seek for the translation of the National Anthem into various Indigenous Languages, and that would have sailed through if I am available to pursue it to the end. But I am happy that today Lagos state government is embracing that ideologies.

Forget it, we are sinners, our sin is known to me. It was in our state we stopped the Tsunami of PDP coming from Ekiti State, we worked as a team to stop the onslaught of PDP. Repeating it is now a big task, but doable.

Our sins are damned too many, it was only in our state (Osun) that the gentleman called Ribadu won election. The State of Osun shall continue to suffer for it and their need for funds shall continue to be exposed, funding them shall continue to be a reference to other states of the federation and the state of osun shall continue to serve as testing ground for regular bail out for other states to envy, ‘‘There is God ooo’’.

Well, as we begin our next round of campaign for change of baton and praying the election favours our party, I feel happy that I remain principled as a member of the APC and shall again do my best to ensure victory for my party.

I have no iota of regret in every of my steps as a former lawmaker and for been a first timer and to have recorded such numbers of motions and bills. It actually filled me with joy when am compared with the previous and even the serving.

I was lucky to have gotten such wonderful opportunity to serve my people in that capacity and not because I was the best but only by the special grace and favour of Almighty ALLAH . No controversy about this, I was the first Nollywood star in Nigeria to be so privileged in that category.

Little hope was then placed on me when I resumed and I was often described as “mere theatre boy” but today Nollywood lovers and fans across the world never got disappointed in me. What then is happiness if not the inner joy? Suffice to say that I shall never be alone henceforth in this game of politics and that is because I am no longer alone as an artist.
Hon. Desmond Elliott is doing fine in Lagos State House of Assembly so also Barr Salami in Kwara State cabinet. This is largely due to the fact that I have not derailed or spoiled the good name of the Nollywood.

I have been bestowed with several titles such as Bobaselu of ife, Fiwagboye of Ila Orangun, Mayegun of Ifewara and lately the Bobajiro of Ede Kingdom. I have never forgotten my people of Ile-Ife, the Source of Yoruba land and I will never forget them.

I stay closer now to my people and knowing exactly their immediate needs now will help me to work on it to bring smiles on their faces.
Neither do I betrayed the confidence reposed on me by this great Ife people, friends, fans and family members.

Today I am not rich but I have so many reasons to glorify God, I am getting richer in knowledge and also richer in political experience and more knowledgeable in legislative tasks.

More of my people now see sense in fielding high ranking personality as their representative.
Most importantly, among these benefits is having you, readers and friends as my assets.

I shall continue to glorify God for going this far and appreciating all my well wishers and for landing well on each trials as my state is set to begin another journey.

I sincerely thank all my friends on this platform for always being there for me and to those of you who feel bad for one reason or the other about my person, please accept my unreserved apologies.

In togetherness, we shall win.

Hon. Rotimi Makinde.
(Chief Bobajiro of Ede Kingdom)
