A suspected female kidnapper was beaten to stupor and set ablaze by an irate mob at the Offa Garage end of Ilorin-Offa Road in Ilorin on Monday afternoon.
Eyewitness account revealed that the suspect had attempted to kidnap twin babies in a Muslim school located around Kilanko area of Ilorin metropolis on the pretext that their mother had asked her to take custody of the babies.
It was also gathered that the mother of the twin babies, who denied sending anyone to bring home the children when contacted, rushed to the school, screaming that she had never sent anybody.

Source also said that people who heard the lamentation of the mother followed her and pounced on the suspect, dragged her along to the Offa Garage end of the Ilorin-Offa road before she was set on fire.
It was gathered that some people made frantic efforts to plead with the mob to allow the suspect be taken to a police station, the irate mob ignored the plea and burnt her.
Speaking on the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident, saying that the suspect was already set ablaze before the arrival of the police officers.

The PPRO, who said that the police had rescued people who he said had been falsely accused from being lynched along the same area, warned residents to stop taking laws into their hands, adding that they should report suspects to the police for necessary action.
He also said three people had been arrested in connection with the lynching, adding that police had commenced investigations on the matter.
