Mass sack in Access Bank Plc that started on Friday has started generating furore in the public domain.

SaharaReporters reported that a pregnant woman at the Ketu/Ikorodu Branch simply known as Taiwo collapsed at the weekend after hearing of her sack.

In the first round of the mass sack on Friday, it was alleged that over 1,500 workers received their sacked letters with many penciled down to receive their letters starting from Monday.

The Cashier is about three months old pregnant.

The bank had announced plans to sack its workers as a result of the negative impact of the Coronavirus outbreak.

SaharaReporters gathered that many of the bank’s staff received their sack letters via email over the weekend with shock and grief.

A colleague of the lady, who collapsed, spoke with SaharaReporters on the phone.

He said,

Her name is Taiwo. When she got the news today, she collapsed. There were two of them affected by the mass retrenchment from Ketu/Ikorodu Road branch, as of now. We will get to know more on Monday about others who were affected. The Taiwo lady is about two or three months pregnant.

“When she heard the news, she collapsed. It was friends and family around her that rushed her to the hospital.”

In another development, one of the Marketing staff said he was very lucky because the Tsunami did not affect but he claimed that 1,500 staff in the Marketing Department have been affected. Other staff from another department would receive their letters starting from Monday.

In a chat made available to SOJ WORLDWIDE ONLINE NEWS, staff whose name was not mentioned narrated how it all.
