According to Adeleke, the November salary payment is conditional, unless the affected political appointees return all the State Government assets in their possessions before anyone will be entitled to collect their salaries.

“NEWS RELEASE

Osun state government has charged former political appointees in Osun State to return government properties and cars in their possession to the Government for them to claim any entitlements.

Political appointees had appropriated government cars and properties in their care for their private use in violation of government regulations and extant laws.

The appointees not only left offices with their official cars, they also added service cars and others in clear violation of public service regulations. Some former officials admitted that the former Governor authorised them to claim the official cars even though there is no law that authorised the former Governor to so act.

Many former appointees resisted the refusal of top bureaucrats to sign letters for the release of the vehicles, leading to clandestine disappearance of many official vehicles.

Osun people are also aware of the grand looting of government quarters in Osun state as well as Abuja. The Lagos Liaison office is just confirmed as pillaged after an inspection today by a team from the Assets Recovery Committee.

We therefore believe that those who engaged in pilfering and pillaging of public assets must return same before they can lay any claim to salaries or any other entitlements. The Assets Recovery committee is intensifying efforts in this direction.”
