One of his daughters said Alaafin invited his children two weeks ago and said, “My father told me I have had enough time here on Earth, it is time for me to come and join him.”
She said they were all scared to the marrow when he revealed the revelation to them.
The question on every lip are the retinue of his young queens shown in the photo below, what would be their next line of actions?
Kabiyesi has this to say on his 51st Anniversary on the throne of his forefathers,
” I am like the “Proverbial Elephant that passes through the eye of the needle –a sort of an anvil on which all hammers strike.
Yes, the last 51 yrs of my ascension to the unarquably the most powerful and highest Traditional institution in Yorubaland, the Alaafinate’ has been turbulent, as events has also been very exciting.
The dramatic personae who victimised, persecuted, intimidated and disgraced my father, Oba Adeniran Adeyemi II by banishment and to death were still in vintage positions in Nigeria not withstanding the Military regime that was in government at that time. The odd for my being appointed as the Alaafin of Oyo was 1—100 against me” but here I am, 51yrs and still counting.
Like the talking drummers will say, Ri Ran Ni Won Ran Mi Wa, Emi Ko Ni Mo Ran Ara Mi (I was sent, I did not send myself)…”
