Details of Nnamdi Okafor’s death are sketchy as nobody has confirmed whether he was ill before the trip, or suddenly took ill there.
Until his passing, Okafor was the Representative of Awka 1 State Constituency in the Assembly.
He was first elected in 2015 and was reeIected in 2019.
He was born in Umuzocha village in Awka. He went to St Patrick Primary School before going to Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha (DMGS) where he finished with a Grade One result in WASSCE.
After his secondary education, Okafor went to the United States of America where he studied Pharmacy.
He earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, USA in 1992 and immediately after sat for and passed the Florida Pharmacist Licensure Exam.
In the U.S., post graduation, Okafor worked as a pharmacist at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida –one of the most popular and busiest hospitals in the State of Florida.
He rose to the position of a Supervisor within just two years. He later, also worked as Senior Pharmacy Manager for Walgreens Pharmacy, and Costco Department Store respectively, all in Miami.
He left the job to establish an independent pharmacy business in South Florida called “We Care Pharmacy and Home Health, Incorporated,” which he sold to the CVS Pharmacy Group before relocating to Nigeria in 2010.
