Another deadly armed robbery attacks occured at Ikire and Apomu towns in Irewole Local Government Areas of Osun State on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

Two banks were attacked namely; Access and First Bank respectively.
Residents, who gave eyewitness accounts while speaking with newsmen said the attackers storned the towns about 4:30pm on Wednesday and started shooting sporadically.
It was gathered that those who were killed during the attacks were majorly residents who were either at the ATM points or passers-by who were hit by stray bullets.

Total number of casualties were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, but a resident of Apomu confided in us that no fewer that five persons, including the one who died at the hospital, have been confirmed dead in Apomu alone.
“As we speak now, about five persons have been confirmed dead in Apomu. One later died few minutes ago after sustaining gunshots injuries during the attack.”

Spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident. She said the command is still gathering information on the incident.
