Kamardeen Ridwan, a student of Ataoja High School, scored 319 in the just concluded 2019 UTME result which was the best in the school and in the State of Osun.

Kamardeen, 17,  is the first child of the family of five his father is a Bricklayer and whose Mother sells ‘Fufu’ (food made from cassava)  said he usually joined with his other colleagues to make it to the school every day because of the paucity of cash.

Member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Tunde Lekan Olatunji at the Ataoja High School, Osogbo on Tuesday.

Dr Adeagbo said she went to public school yet she cleared her WAEC before proceeding for her first degree, the second degree to PhD levels. She declared Ataoja High School, Osogbo is a school to reckon with.

Dr Adeagbo said,

“Just yesterday, I called Ridwan and asked him his performance in UTME and he told me, he scored 319. I assured him that I will reach out to Old Students Association and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi for assistance on his matter. I am so happy this came miraculously.”

Hon Olatunji on whose benefit Kamardeen is enjoying the scholarship and adoption to the university level was using his gesture to encourage the boy child. It must be a joint responsibility to make Nigeria great.

He said.

“education is the best legacy, our children must be encouraged to further their studies although all hands are not equal. This is not the first time am adopting school children. This is a talent we cannot afford to waste away. We would have failed as a nation if we allowed this type of talent to waste away.”

Hon Olatunji who was celebrating his birthday on Tuesday had two things in mind, the first was to celebrate Miss Leah Sharibu on her 16th birthday and to create awareness for her release, the second was to give scholarship to Miss IfeOluwa Adeyemi as the astounding student in Ataoja High School.

Along the line, after all the students estimated to be 1,860 carried the placards to wish Leah Sharibu Happy Birthday, Kamardeen was brought in as the best student in the school to steal the show from IfeOluwa on whose behalf Hon Olatunji visited the school.

Kamardeen became an instant celebrity putting her colleague at the backstage with pressmen beaming camera on him to know more about his background.

At the hotel in GRA, Osogbo where the celebrant, Hon Olatunji entertained his guests, his adopted son, Kamardeen was by his side on the high table.

Cutting of the cake

From one speaker to the other, it was the same testimony about Hon Olatunji that he cares for the less privileged in the society especially hopeless brilliant students and motherless children. It was unanimously agreed that Nigerians should emulate the likes of Hon Olatunji to discover hidden talents who could incidentally be our saviour tomorrow.
