THOUSANDS of Osun State residents converged at the Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo on Thursday, December 7, 2023 to launch the takeoff of ‘ATUNTO Osun’ funded and financed by one of the political heavyweights in Osun, Prince Oyedotun Babayemi.
ATUNTO Osun which simply means reform or reorganize Osun State from the cradle to the top is the introduction of an enlarged Cooperative Society for the empowerment of the residents of the state across the 30 Local Government Areas.
The participants of the cooperative are entitled to a soft loan when they contribute part of the capital of their business while Prince Babayemi will complete it to enable the beneficiaries to be self sufficient for their business goals to enjoy necessities of life.
The program, according to the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Emmanuel Monye is a non-partisan program that cut across party lines.
While appreciating the mammoth crowd that welcomed him to the Freedom Park, Prince Dotun Babayemi said he was highly elated seeing crowd despite being invited under short notice.
In a short speech, he said Osun State needed to be reformed and reorganized from individual homes to Wards, Local Governments to the State in general.
He said he decided to alleviate the sufferings of the people by Investing in their lives to banish hunger and poverty pervading the State. He reinstated the fact that the gathering was a non-political gathering where members of different parties were seen coming together for a common goal.
“Good governance is the prerequisite to economic development, unless the government do the right thing there can never be peace, people are hungry.” – Dotun Babayemi said.
