COURT of Appeal sitting in Akure on Thursday, January 23, 2025 dismissed appeal brought by Dr. Rahman Adedoyin over the murder of OAU MBA-Executive, Timothy Adegoke.
The Appeal Court held that:
i. The judgment of the High Court of Ọ̀ṣun State stands.
• Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part.
• The Court of Appeal held that Adedoyin was properly convicted and sentenced to death.
ii. Order of forfeiture of Hilton Hotel quashed and set aside.
iii. Order of education scholarship to children of Timothy Adegoke by Adedoyin and others quashed and set aside.

Background Story
The OSUN State High Court sitting in Osogbo presided over by Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 sentenced the owner of Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Rahman Adedoyin and two others, Kazeem Oyetunde and Adeniyi Aderogba to death for the murder of Timothy Adegoke, an MBA-EXECUTIVE student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
Two other workers in the hotel, Oluwale Lawrence, Kunle Adebayo and one of the Receptionists were however discharged and acquited for want of evidence.
Adepele-Ojo said the children of the late Timothy Adegoke are to be placed on scholarship till their National Youth Service Corps( NYSC) and bills paid by Estates owned by Rahman Adedoyin.

Adedoyin however stood up for the first time since trial began to deny ever had hand or ordered the killing of Timothy Adegoke.
“God knows that I did not kill anybody and I did not send anybody to kill anybody and I was not in the Hotel when he died. I leave everything to Almighty God,” Adedoyin concluded.
It will be recalled that Timothy Adegoke was an MBA-EXECUTIVE student at the Obafemi Awolowo University ( OAU) . He left Abuja on November 5, 2021 to sit for his last examination in the University.
The deceased had lodged at Hilton Honours Hotel owned by Rahman Adedoyin, where he allegedly lost his life and declared missing on November 7, 2021, after his classmates discovered that he did not show up in class at Moro Distance Learning Centre, the venue of the exam.
Also, the Police investigation revealed that he had told his wife of his plans to check into the hotel in Ile-Ife, where he usually stayed whenever he arrived in the town.
At the beginning of investigation by the Police, the defendants had denied that the deceased lodged at their facility before some evidence on payment transactions was discovered.
