Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers were said to be on rampage on the Benin-Ore Expressway in Edo and Ondo States respectively on Friday afternoon killing and maiming people.
BENIN-ORE: A man who is simply known as Kolapo, a husband to one of the victims narrated to SOJWORLD.COM what he went through when his wife who was coming from Aba in a passenger bus was ambushed at Ofosu, an hour drive from Ore in Ondo State.

According to him, he said
“today is a bad day in my life. My wife just survived a kidnappers’ attack at a town called Ofosu just before Benin. One hour drive after Ore, she went by air and was coming back by road.
“Her business partner was not lucky. A stray bullet him in the chest and he died instantly. Many dead and many are missing with several jeeps abandoned on the Benin-Ore Road and the owners are nowhere to be found. I had to drive down from Ibadan around 3 pm when my wife called me after the kidnappers have run away and they came out of the bush.

Now I know why people say the rate of uncertainty and death in Nigeria is 1000%”
“They are more than 20 in number according to my wife, they were divided into groups with sophisticated weapons, once you entered into it, chances of escape is very slim. Their plans are to kidnap, rob people going to eastern part of the country for ceremonies, the road leading to Lagos and Benin were cordoned off, they had a field day killing, kidnapping and robbing people.”
SOJWORLD.COM spoke with the husband of the victim on Saturday, he narrated how the gunmen operated in daylight between 1pm-4pm for three hours unhindered. He said when he decided to go, the policemen on the road cautioned him not to go forward but he insisted because he cannot abandon his wife.

He narrated further that his car engine got knocked but still managing it.
As at the time of filing this report, he is still at the mortuary in Ofosu to check his wife’s boss who was shot dead in the melee.
The kidnappers rampage has gone to the extent that “they don’t have to know you before they kidnap you there. They kidnap you, evaluate and set ransome,” said a man who knows the environment.
