The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has finally declared President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the Presidential election held on February 23, 2019.
President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 15, 191,847 votes to defeat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who scored 11,262,978 votes.
The declaration of the president by Prof Yakubu brings to an end the collation of results which started on Saturday, February 23, 2019 when the election took place.
“That Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” Yakubu said.
