The immediate past leader of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan is the new Senate President of the 9th Senate.
This follows a hitch-free election on Tuesday at the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly.
The election, which was being presided over by Chief Mohammed Ataba-Omolori, saw the Yobe Senator scoring 79 votes after ballots sorting while Senator Ali Ndume (Borno) scored 28 votes.
