Breaking: Police changes gear over Senator Saraki’s invitation (See new twist of event)

The Nigeria Police Force changes gear of the invitation of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki for questioning of the deadly bank robber in Offa in Kwara State.

Mr Saraki, in a tweet on Monday afternoon, revealed that he instructed his ADC to get the invitation letter from the Police Headquarters in Abuja.
He tweeted; “I have just informed my ADC to get the letter of invitation from @PoliceNG in respect of the allegations raised yesterday — so that I can immediately honour the alleged invitation”.
But in another tweet later, the president of the senate said the police had recanted their position, demanding explanation instead of appearance from him.

“Following my earlier tweet, I have received the letter from @PoliceNG. They are no longer asking me to appear at any station, but to respond in writing to the allegations within 48 hours — which I plan to do,” Mr Saraki said.
It was reported that at least 22 suspects in connection with the April 5 Offa bank robbery in Kwara State, including the ringleaders, are currently detained for investigations.
Nine policemen and 25 others were killed by the robbers during the deadly operation.
But sources at the police headquarters said at least five principal suspects have allegedly indicted the senate president in their statements.

The acclaimed leader of the robbery gang, Ayoade Akinnibosun, alleged that they were political thugs of Mr Saraki, adding that they have been working for him since when he was governor of the state.
He however said although they did not carry out the Offa attack on Mr Saraki’s instruction, but they worked with his encouragement.
Exhibits obtained by the Nigeria Police from the gang include a vehicle allegedly given them by Kwara State government.
