I am sorry to bother you with yet another post. Please pardon me. If you are from Osooro in Ondo State and its environ, please this should bother you. Please read and be ready to take any positive step that can salvage the situation.
Union Bank has finalized her decision to shut down the bank’s branch in Ilutitun-Osooro of Ondo State, owing to the fact that the branch is not profitable. The shut down will be effective August 9, 2019. The Ilutitun branch services over 20 communities, including: Ilutitun, Igbotako, Iju-Odo, Erekiti, Igbisin, Oloto, Aiyede, Ayila, Ayetumara, Ilado, Iju-Oke, Irowa, Igboegunrin, Omotosho, Kajola, Mahintedo, etc.

We are of the opinion that although the bank is a private venture, with profitability as a core objective, it will be a huge calamity on the people of these communities, if the bank should shut down. These are people who have been in darkness (no electricity) for over a decade. Now, consider the following:
√ Imagine an old woman, who must now travel miles costing about N600.00, just to withdraw N1,000.00.
√ How the crime rate will further escalate, when people are forced to keep money in the house.

√ How the sepulcher of the economy of that district will finally be cemented, never to rise again.
We are making the last minute’s efforts, in hope that the status quo will be sustained and that the branch will not be shut down. While we are considering the options, one of the conditions that the bank has put forward is that the town must give a commitment on how more businesses can come to the bank, thus enhancing profitability. The communities will consider and fine-tune the options.
Now, this is the crux of my writing. It is a passionate appeal to your good conscience. While it is true that many of us are not resident in that town, we will not do well, if it goes down in history that in our days, the only bank, servicing almost 20 communities was shut down, while we fold our hands and do nothing. Our people are already being flogged with cane, owing to over 10 years black out; we cannot allow them to be flogged with the scorpion of no bank again.

We are in the age of internet banking, and you can access your money from anywhere under the sun. Please we are pleading passionately, especially to all sons and daughters of the affected communities, who are not resident at home, PLEASE OPEN ACCOUNT WITH UNION BANK ILUTITUN (ensure that the account is domiciled in Ilutitun). Your account, my account with the bank can make the difference. All of us together can decide, whether the bank will live or die.
We are appealing to the good conscience of the Management of Union Bank of Nigeria to reconsider her decision and save the souls of these over 20 communities, who will be most pained by the proposed shut down.
