This suggestion was contained in a paper presented by ex president of Imesi-Ile Progressive Association, Engr. Benjamin Olamijulo at 2022 Imesi-Ile Economic Summit, with the theme: Imesi-Ile: Paradigm Shift for 21st Century Economy held in the community yesterday.
Olamijulo also charged the community to gear efforts towards large scale food production, while youths should be encouraged to go into bigger poultry and fish farming.
Delivering a paper titled: Imesi-Ile: An inquest into 19th and 20th Centuries’ Growth and Commercial Rise and Fall: Historical Lessons and the way forward, Olamijulo further said the community should be made more accessible through creation of more roads.
He further suggested documentation of land ownership against boundary encroachment through survey , agreements and C of O where necessary and harped on the need to reinforce cooperative system for loan access.
He further said, “Imesi Ile has come a long way and no doubt in need of right perspectives in the 21st century and beyond. The town is no more in obscurity despite our location and terrain challenges. We have overcome many obstacles that could have made many communities irrelevant.
Speaking earlier, the IPA National President Rev. Oluseun Adeniyi, who said it was necessary to discuss ways to improve economy of Imesi-Ile, added that the summit had provided avenue where blueprint for a clear, modern technologically-based economy for the town would be developed.
Owa Ooye of Imesi-Ile, Oba Enoch Akinyemi, commended IPA for organising the summit and called on all indigenes to support all initiatives that would aid economic growth of the town.
In their separate remarks, Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin and a Prof of Economics, University of Ibadan, Ademola Ariyo, called for careful implementation of the recommendations arrived by the summit.
