The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osun State Chapters are on a collision course over the Court of Appeal Judgement in Akure on Monday, February 10, 2025.
While the APC hailed the judgement as a victory for the common man stating that the court dismissed the suit filed by Governor Ademola Adeleke and ordered the reinstatement of the Chairman and Counsellors sacked by the Osun State Governor.
In a statement signed by the APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, he commended former Governor of Osun state Gboyega Oyetola. He also congratulated the ‘reinstated’ Chairmen and Counsellors of the 30 Local Government areas in the State.
According to Lawal: “It is worthwhile to commend the judiciary for always proving to be the hope for a common man as manifested in today’s judgment where the Justices of the Court of Appeal unanimously delivered the verdict reinstating the removed APC council Chairmen and Councillors.
“It is still fresh in the memories on how the incumbent Governor Adeleke chased out the elected council officers who were elected in 2022 under the administration of our party’s leader, the then Executive Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola.

“But today, we give thanks to God that light has subsumed darkness and we are victorious.
The sound judgment unanimously delivered by the Justices of the Appeal Court is a clear testimony of the Osun people’s mandate willingly given to our party in all the 30 Local Government Council Areas and Ife-East Modakeke Area Office.
“We commend the Leader of our great party, former Governor of our dear state and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola on this victory. We equally thank him for his continued support to the party.
“No doubt, he has been unilaterally financing all the litigations and cases filed by the party and many more. This has been the driving force and source of motivation for us. We pray God to continue to strengthen him.
“We congratulate all the reinstated council Chairmen and Councillors over this judicial victory. We equally rejoice with the good people of the state for their resilience and support for our party throughout the the dark period. This is a victory for all”, Lawal added.
Meanwhile, the State Government under the banner of the PDP issued a stern warning to anyone or group with intention to disrupt the peace of the State should be dealt with according to the law.
In a statement signed by the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, he said “anybody who makes an attempt to gain entry into any of the council secretariats should be reported to the security agencies.”
“…the only valid judgement subsisting as at today is the order of the court which nullified the election conducted as enunciated above.
Therefore, we need to inform the entire citizens of Osun State, most especially, the Security Operatives and Heads of Local Government Administrations( HLA’s) to take note of the fact that, there is no judgement restoring the Yes and No Local Government Chairmen back into the various Local Government Councils in Osun State.
Consequently, we urge the security operatives to arrest and prosecute anybody, no matter how highly placed, who may want to disrupt the current peace being enjoyed in our dear state.
We equally, urge all our HLAs to ensure that no intruder or political thug is allowed into the premises of any of our local governments in the state.
Therefore, anybody who makes an attempt to gain entry into any of the council secretariats should be reported to the security agencies.
Finally, we want to use this medium to inform the citizens of Osun State that barring any unforeseen circumstance, the local government election scheduled for 22nd of February 2025 will go on as planned.“
