CONSENSUS CANDIDATE:  Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso made his declaration to contest for the office of the President of Nigeria on Wednesday amid mammoth crowd.

The presidential hopeful under the banner of Peoples Democratic Party obtained his expression of interest and nomination form on Friday.

Senator Kwankwaso said he was ready to identify with any consensus candidate of the PDP if the party so desired.

He also promised to remain in PDP even if he fails to clinch the party’s presidential ticket.

He, however, maintained that the party should micro-zone the ticket to the northwest.

Kwankwaso said he would work for the success of the party even if he lost the party’s presidential primary.

He said he came second at the presidential primary election of the APC prior to 2015 general elections but remained calm.

“I don’t think anything will happen differently if I am not the winner at the primary,” he said.

Kwankwaso said: “Consensus candidate is the best under normal circumstances but some aspirants may prefer to go for the primaries and get one vote.

“If our leaders come together and say this is a consensus candidate, I will abide by it.” He, however, reiterated that the party should micro-zone the ticket to the northwest.
