Crisis in PDP deepens as peace meeting between Fayose and Gov Makinde hit the rock on Friday when the southwest chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) dissociated itself from former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola planned meeting.
Southwest chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dissociated itself from any peace meeting called by former Osun Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola on the political feud between ex- Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose and Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde.
The Southwest PDP was reacting to reports that Oyinlola would be meeting with Fayose and Makinde to resolve their protracted political differences.
It said the ex-Governor lacks the moral latitude to reconcile the warring leaders.
The party, in a statement by the zonal Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Lere Olayinka, cautioned Oyinlola to restrain himself from further sowing the proverbial seed of discord in the southwest PDP.
The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a publication that there will be a reconciliation meeting between Fayose and Governor Makinde at the instance of former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, today (Friday).
“To us, Prince Oyinlola is supposed to be Governor Seyi Makinde’s leader but the reverse is the case now as he is painfully, acting like Governor Makinde’s ‘appendage’ and also his contractor.
“Therefore, he has no moral preserve to be peacemaker as peace cannot be achieved when insincere people who are self-seekers sit at the table as peacemakers.
“Most importantly, PDP was peaceful in the South-West before Prince Oyinlola returned from APC and committed and loyal leaders of the party in the zone will on their own, ensure that issues in the party are ressolved.”
