Court stops police from harassing, arresting, interrogating Bukola Saraki over Offa bank robbery

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Jabi has restrained the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), the Inspector General of Police and the police for from interrogating, harassing, inviting, arresting and detaining the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, over the Offa robbery where over a dozen of people were killed.

Giving the order yesterday, Justice M. A. Nasir, who sat as a vacation Judge of the FCT High Court sopped the AGF and the Police from taking any action on the Senate President pending the hearing of the substantive suit numbered, CV/2454/18, filled by ten Human right lawyers.
The court issued the order while delivering ruling in the motion numbered, M/8280/2018 brought before the court by the human right lawyers led by Barrister Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the National chairman of the APP.

The lawyers’ motion is seeking for the enforcement of the fundamental human rights of the Senate President as guaranteed by section 34,35,36, and 41 of the Nigerian Constitution and article 2,4,5,6,10 and 12 of the African Charter on Human Rights.
