The Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has saluted Nigerians for their collective responsibilities in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Owoeye while congratulating Nigerians and Muslim faithfuls as they join their counterparts across the world to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, a religious festival in commemoration of the sacrifice of a ram made by Prophet Ibrahim instead of his only son charged Nigerians not to recline on the few wins recorded in the fight against COVID-19.
The Speaker in a Eid-el-Kabir message by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kunle Alabi admonished Muslims to bear in mind the shift occasioned by the ravaging pandemic and continue to stay safe.
He pointed out that people should not at this point let down their guards thinking it is Eureka with the pandemic, saying the times that we are calls for more efforts to stop the increasing community transmission of the virus.
Owoeye noted that all hands must be on deck at this period to ensure the speedy recovery of the economy that had been lost to the lockdown associated with COVID-19 pandemic
He said, “it has now become imperative that we can no longer continue to do things as planned before COVID-19 came ravaging. We must all imbibe the sacrifice that the season stands for by beginning to think of how to take our lives back to normal.
“The global COVID-19 pandemic has badly affected all sectors of the economy hence the need for all to review for the post COVID-19 economic recovery. It can no longer be as it was during the global lockdown.
“Nigerians should also not at this time relax on the few gains recorded in the fight against COVID-19, all precautionary measures put in place by the NCDC and the Presidential Task Force must be fully adhere to. It is not yet Uhuru.
“There is no doubt that we shall overcome and that our economy shall soon come to normal, we should also not because of the celebration forget that the virus is still very much with us, we should stay safe and celebrate with moderation”. The statement read.
