Father of first baby of the year in Osun State died of accident hours after receiving gifts from the wife of the governor.

What would have been of seasons of celebrations for the family of Mr. Okewunmj turned to sorrow on January 1, 2018 after the prized awarding baby of year was splashed with gifts by the wife of the governor, Alhaja Sherifat Aregbesola, the death of the father of the baby happened few hours later.
Okewunmi was in a celebration mood when he left the Osun State General Hospital, Asubiaro after he brought food for the mother of the new baby had an accident on his way home and died instantly.

The death of the father of the baby was shocking and devastating to all family members and friends.
Confirming the demise of her husband during a telephone chat with journalists in Osogbo, Osun State, on Friday, Mrs Olanike Okewumi described his death as shocking and devastating, saying her whole world had collapsed with the sad development.
It will be recalled that Aregbesola’s wife had visited Osun State General Hospital, located at Asubiaro area on 1st, January, 2018, where she felicitated with the family of Okewumi and also presented gift items to them.
The deceased later left the hospital premises on his motorcycle to relax and get some sleep when he was involved in an accident at Ogo Oluwa, along Gbongan-Osogbo expressway as a commercial motorcyclist, who rode against the traffic had an head on collision with Okewumi on his motorcycle.

Sources informed our correspondent that Okewumi died on the spot having sustained head injury, while the other motorcyclist sustained minor injuries.
Commenting on the death of her husband, Mrs Olanike Okewumi said “we were so happy after receiving those gift items from the first lady, I later started feeling hungry and my husband went home to prepare food for me, he came back and played with us for some minutes.
“He left the hospital around 8:pm, not knowing that would be the last time I will set my eye on him, I learnt that he died in an accident few minutes after he left us around Ogo-Oluwa,” she lamented.
