It would be recalled that the Management of Fidelity Bank sacked drivers in its employ except handful of them that were retained on August 31, 2017.
The news getting to us this morning shows that the Management has rescinded its decision as they have recalled all the drivers who did not participate in the protests to fight for their benefits.
As at the time of filling this report, seven of the drivers have resumed duty in the bank branches visited. We are unable to confirm if the magnanimity of the bank to recall some of the drivers was extended to drivers in other branches.
The directive to recall some of the drivers came from the MD/CEO of the bank Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo who was earlier irked by the actions of the drivers in the past months for their mass protests against the bank.
In another development, the court case involving 12 core staff of the bank who retired without benefits from the bank will come up at the National Industrial Court, Lagos this Friday, September 22, 2017. The 12 staff approached the National Industrial Court to fight for their retirement benefits which the staff claimed the bank refused to pay.
