All Nigerians have been enjoined to join hands with government to rebuild the nation. The clarion call was made by the new oyo state Director of the National Orientation Agency , Dr. Olukemi Afolayan while featuring on ” Politics NoW” a radio talk – show on YES FM anchored by Seun Owoseni on Wednesday.

The State Director who treated questions relating to the activities and functions of the Agency also appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the government and hope for a brighter future.

Dr. Afolayan assured the listeners that the Federal Government receives constant feedback from the agency and is not unaware of the situation at hand and is working assiduously to better our conditions. She therefore called on all Citizens to join the government in the task of fixing the nation.

The State Director responding to the issues of discrimination against the girl- child encouraged them to have self esteem and not to settle for a second fiddle. She also noted we all must invest in Girls’ rights for them to make sustainable impact in the society. She cited the example of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie who has maximized her skills to become a globally celebrated writer.

When responders were lauding the Agency for having a rebound , the State Director gave credits to former Directors in the Agency who put it on a sound footing, the footpaths, she is patiently following.

While questioned on the new strategy she is deploying to surmount the menace of Fake news which is assuming a frightening dimension in the country, Afolayan emphasised that ,the Agency is intensifying efforts to sensitise the public particularly the media and on the need to filter their reports and only feed the public with what is genuine and examined to be fool -proof, She also promised to move Do the right thing, Transform Nigeria programme of the Agency which is currently on campuses to the private institutions and spread the net of the Integrity Clubs in the sixty seven secondary schools in Oyo state wider to cover more schools for optimum Sensitisation and Value Re- Orientation..

Afolayan finally called on all Citizens to be alive in doing their constitutional duties and support the governments at all levels to get over the present challenges facing the country as no one will come from outside to do it for us.
