Former Editor-in-Chief of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Peter Idonije Obakhedo is critically sick, he is appealing to public spirited Nigerians for a N15 million assistance to enable him undergo a kidney transplant, The Guarding reported on Monday.
The journalist is currently bed-ridden at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
Speaking to newsmen, the wife of the retired journalist, Catherine Obakhedo, said he has been diagnosed with stage-five chronic kidney disease, which is secondary diabetic nephropathy.
According to her, the 60-year-old former Editor-in-Chief has been undergoing dialysis twice a week since 2020 in addition to accompanying medication, which has taken a toll on the family’s financial status.
