OSUN State Police Command on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 paraded four man gang of car theft syndicate including a lady on their way to Kogi State to sell their stolen cars.
They were apprehended by a team Anti- kidnapping operatives upon receiving a credible information, they were intercepted along Osun-Jela, Ilesha Road while they were on their way to Kaba, Kogi State to sell off the stolen cars.
The suspects have been identified as Temitope Oke aged 33years, (male), Wasiu Ahmed, 19years, (male), Olamilekan Yusuf, aged 21, (male) and a female named Julius Wuraola aged 28 was found with an exhibits of a 2014 White Toyota Camry, 2019 Red Toyota Camry, 2005 Gold Honda Accord, and a 2010 Black Toyota Camry.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Hope Okafor, the
“preliminary interrogation revealed that they operated under disguise of being Motor Gear Mechanics in the course of supposedly working for unsuspecting customer cares.”
She added that “they usually chose the cars to steal and that luck ran out on them this time and that investigations is still ongoing to recover other cars in their possession”.
In an interview with the leader of the gang, Temitope Oke who hails from Kogi State, he confessed that he had once committed the same crime he is accused of in Edo State before relocating to Osun State last year to work as a gear bus automatic mechanic.

Also, Temitope said he set the buyer up with real owner of the car because the buyer gave him three hundred thousand naira out of the two million naira agreement they had.
Furthermore, Temitope told the Press he left Edo State because there was no work there again and that the car found with them are customers’ cars which was supposed to be transported to Kogi State to be sold before they were apprehended by the Osun State Police.
He said that the other two males in the team are aware that they want to sell the stolen car and he gave each of them a car key to drive the cars after him.
However, Temitope claimed that his girlfriend, Wuraola does not know the nature of his job.

Wuraola mentioned in an interview that although she is Temitope’s girlfriend, she is not aware that he stole the cars because the occupation he had told her was a “car mechanic” and she followed him because he only told her he wanted to travel to Kogi State.
Lastly, the DCP ended her brief saying,
“Investigation is still on going to recover other cars in their possession and possible arrest of other members of the syndicate.
The suspects will be charged to Court after the completion of the investigation.”
