Friday, February 17, 2023 was another day relief information came from the Deputy Governor to teeming customers who thronged the apex bank to deposit their old N500 and N1000 notes.
The Deputy Governor might have been forced out of his office when the staff of the bank could not cope with thousands of customers waiting to deposit their cash as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari in a nationwide broadcast on Thursday morning.
The CBN official flanked by security men pleaded with the Depositors, he told them that their money is safe.

He directed those who have less than N500,000 to go to their various banks to deposit their cash and those with above N500,000 should wait.
Newsmen armed with this information left to disseminate the news to the public but about five hours later another counter directive surfaced debunking the previous information from the same bank, CBN.
