How We Sold Two Sisters For N500,000 Each – Suspects Confess

The two sisters, Christabel and Amanda, who were stolen in June last year by their father’s tenants, were sold for N500,000 each.

It was learnt that they were sold to individuals from Port Harcourt in Rivers State and Nnewi in Anambra State.

Christabel and Amanda, aged four and six, were stolen at Utese village in Ovia North East Local Government by two female tenants of their father simply identified as Mercy and Rose.

Mercy and Rose had spent only three weeks in their rented apartment when they stole the two sisters after their mother left them in their care.

One of the suspects, who participated in the transportation and sale of the two sisters, Joy Odum, spoke to reporters when three members of the syndicate were paraded yesterday.

The other suspects are Ruth Ese, 58, and Favour Uju, 45.

Another suspect, Esther, who helped Rose and Mercy to convey the children to Agbor in Delta State, is already serving a jail term.

Joy said the stolen sisters stayed with her briefly in Agbor before she took them to Ruth, who is based in Onitsha.

Madam Ruth contacted Favour in Imo State who brought the couple that paid for the children.

Ruth insisted that the children were still alive and that it was the police job to locate them.

She said the children were sold to childless couple.

According to her;

“I gave them to this woman (Favour) and she gave them out. The children are alive. One is in Nnewi and the other is in Port Harcourt. The commission I got is N30,000. The man who said he brought the children from Cotonou sent his account number where the money was paid into.

“I told the children’s parents that they are still alive.”

Favour said she is a businessmen woman in Owerri and that she does not know the location of the children.

She said she only helped the couple to adopt the stolen children.

The children’s father, Spark Omokpia, had told our reporter that he would do everything to rescue his daughters.
