THE resultant effects of the removal of the fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29, 2023 has brought untold hardships like never experienced before on Nigerians.
A video going viral on Social Media showed how the residents of Iwo Road area in Ibadan, Oyo State descended on a bus loaded with rice that had a stopover was unimaginable.
The people were seen fighting and looting the rice putting trader who owns the rice in trouble of financial challenges.
One thing is clear, if they are not hungry they wouldn’t have decided to loot the rice. The palliatives rolled out can never be enough in a country where there is mass poverty.
The government can go a little further to subsidize costs on wheat and sugar so that the prices on bread and flour will be affordable for all Nigerians.

Governors who are the custodians of these palliatives cannot share it equitably, they can only consider members of their political party.
