IBADAN Loses Oyo Former Governor, Another Prominent Politician Within 72 Hours Interval

TWO prominent indigenes of Ibadan, Oyo State have passed on within 72 hours interval.

 

The first one was a prominent politician, Chief Yekini Adeojo who died on Friday morning while former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Omololu Olunloyo died at the early hours of Sunday, April 6, 2025.

 

Incidentally, two of them belonged to the same political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, has declared that it is painful to lose two patriots in three days.

CCII made this declaration while reacting to the death of a former governor of the state, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, and a former gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Chief Yekini Adeojo.

CCII President General, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, while reacting, described the death of the duo as painful.

 

Ajewole, in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of CCII, Mr. Kola Olomide, however, noted that Ibadan remains undaunted.

 

He said, “What a loss! Coming just within three days of the demise of another quintessential Ibadan leader, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, made our grief even more painful.

“But God knows best. Ibadan remains undeterred. Both of them have left footprints on the sands of time, unforgettable legacies that we are proud of.

“May God grant both eternal rest and grant the families and our beloved city the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
