The police in Nasarawa State have arrested the chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission electoral commission, INEC, Mr Henry Omaku, for allegedly snatching ballot papers during Saturday’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections in Doma Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, confirmed Omaku’s arrest during an interview with our correspondent.

The CP said Omaku had been quizzed by the force over the incident.
He said;
“The command is aware that Omaku was alleged to have snatched electoral materials in Doma. We arrested him, but the suspect denied that he snatched electoral materials.
“The suspect said he went to a polling unit in Doma as an accredited observer, but he was attacked by some voters and rescued by policemen. We have also interrogated the policemen that were there.

“After the suspect was questioned, he was granted bail, but if we have more evidence against him, we will invite him for further questioning.”
Our correspondents learnt that Omaku allegedly snatched the electoral materials from the Kofar Abari Bunu Polling Unit in Unguwar Galadima Ward in the Doma LGA.
