A suspected armed robber was arrested at Oba Elegushi in Lekki after robbing a pregnant woman who had just withdrew cash from a bank.
Mike Ewuzie, 29, a resident of 9, Alafia Street, Orile, was arrested while fleeing the robbery scene after his gang allegedly dispossessed the victim of an undisclosed sum of money she withdrew from a bank at Oba Elegushi in Lekki.
According to the police, a Beretta pistol and two live ammunition were recovered from the suspect.
But Ewuzie, who was paraded by state Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, on Monday, denied being an armed robber.
The suspect said he was only an informant for the three-man gang, which operated on a Bajaj motorcycle marked GGE315GE.

Ewuzie said: “I am jobless and usually ran errand for people. I am not an armed robber but a spy for them. I only helped them to monitor those they asked me to.
“I gave them necessary information for their operation. The real criminals are Koko, Hywuai and Obilo. They have escaped. I do not know their homes.
“KoKo usually called me on phone to meet him at a particular venue. He is the one that chose the location of our meeting. I have worked for him twice.

“The first time, he asked me to trail a car heading towards Mile Two. I do not know what he got from the operation. All I did was spy on the victim and provide him with relevant information.
“He paid me after each operation based on his mood. The first operation he gave me N20,000. The gun does not belong to me. It’s Koko’s. It fell while he was fleeing from the scene to avoid being arrested.”
According to Edgal, a distress call was received at 1:35 p.m. on Friday that a gang of robbers were dispossessing a pregnant woman of her valuables.
