(1) VERONICA LORSHE
About two years ago, 47-year-old Nigerian woman, Mrs Veronica Lorshe, from Howe in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, revealed how she had a relationship with her biological son and eventually conceived for him.
IN her defence, Mrs Lorshe told the Vanguard she had the illicit affair with her first son from her previous husband just to save her new marriage to 44-year-old Sebastian Lorshe. “I am not a loose woman. I am just a woman who loves her husband very much and didn’t want to lose him,” she said.
She claimed her husband refused a fertility test, so she had to test herself with her 26-year-old son to sustain her marriage.
The plan backfired and her husband sent her packing. Veronica moved to Makurdi with her son and decided to keep the baby whom she called, “blood within my blood.”
2. MEMORY NJEMANI
A 47-year-old Malawian mother, Memory Njemani wedded her 30-year-old son because according to her, she spent a lot of money to raise him and she doesn’t want other women to come and enjoy her hard-work.
Njemani claimed she invested a lot of money in the education of her son and would never allow him marry or empower other women. The married mother and son had since been moved in together.
3. BETTY MBEREKO
Around 2013, a 40-year-old Zimbabwean mother, Betty Mbereko got married to her biological son, Farai Mbereko and conceived for him. Betty at that time, had been widowed for 12 years and was six months pregnant for her 23-year-old son before tying the knot with him.
According to Mbereko, she decided it was better to marry her son than marry any of her late husband’s young brothers, whom she claims have been desiring her. She told a village court that the illicit affair with her son began three years ago.
While speaking, her son/husband claimed responsibility for the pregnancy and said he was prepared to take his mother, as his wife and would gladly pay off the bride-price balance his father could not afford to his grandparents.
The village court ruled that they immediately break-off their marriage or leave the village. Betty Mbereko and her son Farai chose the latter and. left the village for an unknown destination.
