A 23-year-old man, Godwin Emmanuel who was arrested for robbery along with two others stole a phone belonging to one of the policemen inside the Van taking them to the Osun State Police Command.

 

The suspect made this confession when he was interrogated by newsmen at the Police parade in Osogbo.

 

When newsmen probed Emmanuel further he said he stole the phone by mistake and he doesn’t know the phone belonged to the Police.

 

He confessed that the phone was seen with him incide police cell.

Speaking with newsmen, Godwin said:

“I was arrested for armed robbery. When I was being transported to the Police Command in Osogbo, inside the police patrol van that I was conveyed, I stole a phone. I don’t know that it is a police phone. I beg make una no vex.

“I told the police not to be angry with me. I don’t know when I did that. I took the phone into the police cell without them knowing. I removed the SIM card, I want to use the phone to call my people because they don’t know I have been arrested for armed robbery.

“I have been here for about 2 months. They later came to search me in the cell where I was and discovered the phone on me. Please tell them to forgive me. I won’t do it again.”

The name of the three suspects are; Olajide Kareem (28), Mike Emmanuel (33) and Godwin Emmanuel, 23.

 

The suspects who came from Ikorodu Community, Lagos State to commit their crime in Osun ambushed a bus conveying the passengers, robbed them of their valuables and raped a 65-year-old woman who was conveying her sick husband to the hospital in Ife.

The incident led to the death of her sick husband on the spot.
