Abiodun Oropo died after suffering from a brief illness. The name of the disease has not been publicized. The radio hosts’ health was deteriorating over the last two days and the treatment had yielded no results. He died at a private office located in Ogba Soye road along Abeokuta road, Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State.
Oropo’s burial ceremony will be held at his residence in Orile Agege. The event will be conducted in a traditional Nigerian way, where Abiodun Oropo will be surrounded by his wife. His children are living abroad
Abiodun Oropo was originally from Iwo city, located in the Osun State. He was a highly influential music entrepreneur and a radio host.
One of the popular songs that catapulted Mr Oropo to stardom was “Board Members,” which was released by popular Juju musician Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi.
Oropo considered himself a civil servant and he always worked in delivering the best for the Nigerian citizens.He belonged to the elite group that governed the entertainment industry with style, which also included Babs Animashaun, Bisi Ajala, and Bode Osinusi.
As a host, he was part of a popular show on Lagos-based Faaji FM on Saturdays. He is also one of Wasiu Ayinde, the king of Fuji music,’s effective promoters.
Oropo has also worked for the popular radio station called Dux FM. He was an active participant in the Nigerian Association of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters.
Insiders said he suddenly took ill two days ago and he was rushed about for treatment which yielded no result until he gave up the ghost yesterday.
