Kehinde Ayantunji Emerges NUJ Chairman In A Keenly Contested Election In Osun

Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji emerged the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the Osun State Chapter for the next three years along with other executive members.

Ayantunju polled 186 votes in the keenly contested election to defeat his closest rival, Mr Dele Ajayi of the Unique FM, Ilesha who scored 62.

Wasiu Ajadosu of Radio Nigeria polled 136 votes to emerged Vice Chairman while his rival from State Information, Oluwatoyin Adeoye had 110 Votes, while Bukola Elufaddejin of Local Government defeated other two contenders, Mr Lateef Agboola and Aboderin Adeyemi of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC)

Elufaddejin polled 130, his closet river, Aboderin polled 80 while Lateef had 36.

The swearing-in of the newly elected officers was immediately conducted by Barrister Oyesiku Adelu in the presence of National Vice Chairman B zone, Cosmos Oni among others.

Reacting to his victory, Ayantunji promised to raise the tempo of Honour and uphold the sanctity of the union, just as he vowed to uphold the constitution of the union during his tenure as well as treat all members with fairness and equity.

Ayantunji, who presided over the union for over eight months to complete the tenure of his predecessor, Comrade Abiodun Olalere reiterated his commitment towards raising the bar of honour of the union in the state as well as conscious protection of its sanctity.

In his acceptance address, Ayantunji promised to continue from he stopped as the chairman of the union in the last two years. He said he and his team will work to continue setting the pace and putting the union on the path of transparency, accountability and professionalism.

“It is crystal clear that the degree of the confidence reposed in me as a team leader, irrespective of my age, height and social status undoubtedly remains a driving force that continued to guide
me to the path of purposeful leadership with humility.

“Going by this perfect understanding of the level of expectations from you to lead gallantly with team spirit and be accountable in all ramifications, myself and the rest of my team in the last administration set a pace for transparency and clarity of purpose, as we unprecedentedly
prepared a comprehensive report of our stewardship for the last part of that administration from the point took the mantle of leadership.
