OGBENI TILL DAY BREAK: The Journey of Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola that started eight years ago as the Executive Governor of the State of Osun will come to an end on November 27, 2018. 

Ogbeni Till Day Break took place at the Wordiff Centre, Osogbo on Friday November 16, 2018 with lots of excitements.

The hall was filled to capacity with many people hanging outside the hall. Cars are parked on both sides of the road.

Ogbeni in his usual self entertained the guests with his dancing, his sense of humour and sagacity.

The governor opened his speech with “there is someone who is not known but working to give me prominence. She is working behind the scene, without her I could not have achieved any tangible feat in my two term of eight years tenure. The person he was referring to is his Deputy, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori whom he said, “without her I would not have succeeded but no one heard of her name but me.”  He commended her especially for her support.

He said there is no government in the entire southwest that handed over successfully like what is happening in the State of Osun apart from Lagos State and Chief Obafemi Awolowo who handed over to Chief Ladoke Akintola in the early 60’s.

A journalist asked “what next after his tenure?”  He said he would go back to his father’s house in Ifofin, Ilesha in The State of Osun. Hear him,

“I want to go and rest for my wife to enjoy me. I want to stay with my wife.”

The Editor-in-Chief of SOJ WORLDWIDE (SOJWORLD.COM), Adesoji Omosebi gave a testimony of many lives saved through the intervention of O’Ambulance,  an initiative of Ogbeni Aregbesola.

Thousands of accident victims have been saved through this initiative.

Omosebi said on November 16, 2013 he was on his way to Ibadan when he met an accident at Ikire with the only occupant lying unconsciously gasping for breath.

He said,

“two days before that day I listened to a radio programme sponsored by the O’Ambulance on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC).

They announced three emergency telephone numbers; it is one of this numbers that I called. 

To my surprise, the O’Ambulance Van came to rescue the victim within 15 minutes. Since that day,  Ogbeni Aregbesola has won my heart.”

Another question;

“What can you say is your greatest achievement that will give you joy for the rest of your life in your eight years tenure as the governor of The State of Osun?”

In his response, Ogbeni Aregbesola said the things that gave him utmost joy are the lives God has made him to touch in the area of empowerments, especially the youths, women and artisans. This, to him, is greater than the infrastructures like construction of roads, bridges and modern day school buildings across the State of Osun.

Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola has come and contributed his own quota for the economic growth and development of the State of Osun that would make him to be in the hearts of his admirers many years to come.

It will be recalled that the outgoing governor, Ogbeni Aregbesola told who cared to listen that his successor, Gboyega Oyetola was the engine room of his administration. He said there has never been any disagreement between him and Oyetola as the enemies of progress spreading unwanted rumours would want people to believe.

The Governor-elect, Gboyega Oyetola said his boss, Ogbeni Aregbesola made him to  become what he is today, so there is no reason for him to fall apart with him.  He said no one can succeed without his boss cooperation. He said further that the rumour of his disagreement with Ogbeni Aregbesola “is dead on arrival.”

HRH, Oba Samuel Adebowale ADESOJI of Imobi-Ijesha invited Adesoji Omosebi to his table and said jokingly “you will pay for that name”.  That was after the Editor-in-Chief announced his name and commending Ogbeni Aregbesola. The duo bear same name, Adesoji. They exchanged pleasantries with royal blessing from the Kabiyesi.

Ogbeni Till Day Break was an event that would not be forgotten in a hurry.  It was a historic event one would want the governor-elect to continue.
