Bolodeoku was arrested and detained at the Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre.
Elijah who was given a Toyota Corolla car for rental on both Uber and Taxify when he was stranded and could not feed his family, later resolved to sell the car to travel out of the country.
It was learnt that Elijah could not feed his family for months before he was introduced to Femi Samson who consider helping him with the car.
Out of pity, Femi instructed Elijah to pay N17500 weekly against the usual payment of N30,000 weekly by Uber drivers.
But to the surprise of everyone, Elijah decided to sell the car to process documents to travel out of the country.
Narrating the ordeal to our correspondent, Femi said he gave the car to Elijah out of pity so that he can feed his family.
Car owner narrated his ordeal:
“ I was the administrative manager of an agricultural firm, a poultry firm whose operations office is based in Abeokuta and administrative office based in Adeniyi Jones, Lagos.
I had my own private car, a gold colour Toyota Corolla 2005 model with number LSD 668 DG and I also had an official vehicle, a white Toyota Tacoma van, for my work in Lagos.
While I was working, I lived in the office premises and I was not really using my personal car as such because most of the time I was on official duty with the official car.
One day a friend of mine, Celestine Ossai, gave me a call on phone to tell me that a member in his church, Elijah Funmilayo Bolodeoku, who was an Uber and taxify driver was stranded and finding it difficult to care for himself and his family because the owner of the vehicle he was using for his transport business has collected the vehicle.
Celestine pleaded with me to make my vehicle available to Elijah for business. I told him I will give it a thought and call him back.
I thought about the vehicle not being in use for a while, I thought about the fact that I will be helping someone in his hustle and the fact that at least I will be able to make some money from the arrangement.
I told Celestine to give my number to Elijah to call me so that we can arrange to talk. I and Elijah spoke on phone and we arranged to meet in the morning on Saturday of that week at an eatery in Ogba.

I met Elijah and we discussed one on one about the arrangement and i told him that the nature of the arrangement will be that I will give him two months to work with the vehicle while he delivers the sum of N17,500 (N2,500/day) at the end of every week. I handed the vehicle over to him after doing some minor work (fixing the AC and renewal of the documents) on it so that the vehicle can be registered with Uber and Taxify.
While working I didn’t put any pressure on him and I don’t want to get distracted with my own work too but I noticed that anytime he was supposed to deliver he gives one complain or another about the vehicle. I told him that he should use the money he was supposed to deliver to me for the first two weeks of work to fund any other issue with the vehicle.

I also noticed that he doesn’t often pick my calls as he used to before. I informed Celestine about this observation but he told me that maybe he was driving as at the time I called and that I should put my mind at rest because Elijah is his church member. I said no problem.
On the third week Elijah pleaded that he quickly used the money to some debts and he assured that the money will be paid. At the forth week he didn’t pay any money into my account and whenever I call him he will not respond to the calls, he won’t even return my calls as well.
I spoke to Celestine on phone about the issue and the fact that I don’t think I will be able to continue the arrangement with Elijah. Celestine assured me that he would speak with Elijah.
Later in the day Elijah called me himself and was pleading and couldn’t even give any concrete reason as to why he did not pay any money into my account. Following this, I told him I will not condone such behaviour henceforth.
In the following month, he made his delivery at the right and things were as we agreed for the first three weeks. In the 4th of the next month, I didn’t hear anything from him so I called him to ask how far.
He won’t pick my calls.
After a week, I called again and he finally responded. I was stunned when he started telling me that he had sold my car and he will be travelling out of the country in the next three days.
I informed Celestine about this development and we agreed to meet one to discuss it further. I met with Celestine in his church that evening after a church program, we agreed to visit Elijah’s house the following day, we did, and realized that Elijah has moved out of his apartment, his landlord was even raining curses on him for one reason or another. His line was no longer available at this level.
I reported the case to SARS office in Ikeja and my statement was taken down and investigation commenced into the issue.
Elijah was arrested and the issue has been taken to the Magistrate Court siting in Ogba where he is now being tried.
The investigation is still ongoing on the whereabouts of the car while he was remanded in Kirikiri prison.”
