THE Osun Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) held a stakeholder engagement with the Media practitioners in Osun State on the activities of the Agency in the state on the first day out of the two-day program at BEN-BER Foundation in Osogbo, capital of Osun State.

 

On the first day of the program, the Facilitators drawn from the CSDA agency took the participants on,  “Performance For Results (PforR) on Osun Cares Project” Workshop.

 

Five lectures were presented with different Speakers who delivered various topics as follows;

1) Project Maintenance and Sustainability, by Joel Adeniyi Adedokun.

2) Discussion on Program for Result (PforR), by Akinsola Ogunsakin.

3) Social, Environmental and Grievances Issues in PforR, by Felix Akinwande.

4) Generating Beneficiary Lists And Its Maintenance, by Bashir Adeyemo.

5) Roles of Stakeholders/Media in projecting the activities of CSDA, by the General Manager, Mrs. Funmi Abokede.

Abokede said, the media is needed to enlighten the people on the necessary information needed, how to access funds, to project the government in helping to showcase completed projects.

She added that the media is expected to interact with the beneficiaries, inform, educate them on how to sustain the project and the need to maintain the Projects.

 

The second day, was allocated for a tour to some of the project sites executed by the CSDA in conjunction with the Osun State Government who contributed 95% of the funds.

 

Part of the area covered are; Ejigbo and Alekuwodo in Osogbo and Ejigbo Local Government and Igbotele, Ekosin, and Oke-Ayan Community at Inisa, all the centres are located in Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.

 

The CSDA facilitated the building of Elite Toilet and a Borehole at Igbotele hamlet with 10 buildings. The journey took the team to a small stream they reportedly shared with cows before the advent of the modern water facility with clean water within their reach provided by the State.

The Chairman of Igbotele Community, Ijabe, Odo Otin Local Government, Yusuf Oladele Yinusa expressed their appreciation to the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke for remembering them. He acknowledge the fact that the villagers was sharing the stream with herder’s cow before the intervention of the CSDA.

 

The beneficiaries appreciate the Osun State government and the CSDA for the modern Elite Toilet built for their convenience.

 

According to the beneficiaries, the two projects executed has prevented them from communicable diseases like cholera and other related diseases.

 

The two teams later converged at the Testing Ground Community in Osogbo where People With Disabilities (PWDs) were camped by the Osun State government.

 

The team visited ‘Adire Fabrics’ factory where assorted designs of Adire with various attires were produced.

 

The leader and founder, Adebayo Murtala aka Blind Genius told newsmen of his challenges with his 10 workers whom he paid their wages on a daily basis.

He said they lacked patronage from their target clients including the state government whom he advised to organize quarterly exhibition for them within a year to create awareness and publicity for their quality fabrics that can compete with any standard in the country.

 

 

The site seeing took the team to the Deaf and Dumb Centre who are into fashion Designing and baking. They also visited shoemakers who specialized in making leather sandals.

 

 

They all complained of low patronage and mobility to take their wares to the market. They urged the media to assist in creating awareness and publicity for their products and to prevail on the State Government to champion their exposures to the world for them to earn a good living.

 

 

The funds for all the projects executed was provided by the world Bank on loan to the State Government through the Federal Government of Nigeria that stands as the Guarantor while the CSDA is the facilitator.
