The victim, Adekunle Boluwatife, who is currently receiving treatment at the University College Hospital (UCH), narrated her story on what exactly transpired between her and her aggrieved friends who showed her no mercy.

She said she was brutalised and beaten for two hours non stop all because they wanted to avenge a male friend who at some point assaulted the victim simply because she refused to be his girlfriend.

The twenty-year-old student explained how she was caught unawares in the middle of the crisis

She said: “On that fateful day, I was on my way from CRC and came across my friend named Bimpe. We got talking and I eventually followed her to her room. Immediately we settled in, she got a call from Jessica that she should come to Funmi’s place. I asked Bimpe how Jessica got her contact because she warned me to stay away from Jessica and Faith but she didn’t reply.

“Bimpe went to Funmi’s place while I stayed back in her room. After a while, she called me to come to Funmi’s place and I went there but I had no idea they had a laid down plan for me.”

She explained the reason behind the beating: “One Popoola Olaniyi Agboola popularly known as Obalola wanted me to be his girlfriend but I refused, he came to my lodge to beat me up and I managed to slap him so he had grudges against me afterwards. Obalola is Faith’s school father and he is also in a relationship with my friend Funmi, he reported me to Faith that I slapped him and she suggested that they gang up to beat me up. Funmi agreed to all this simply because she claimed I wanted to destroy her relationship and I didn’t inform her that her boyfriend is disturbing me, which I did.”

The victim explained that she and Faith are not in good terms: “I and Faith are not in good terms. She and Jessica also had a misunderstanding which was later resolved and Faith used that opportunity to connive with Jessica to beat me up.

“I was beaten by 8 people, 7 girls and a guy. Several items were used in beating me up such as mopping sticks, broom, stick etc for 2 hours non stop. I was rescued by a woman who also lives in the lodge. I was taken to the Lcentre by Funmi’s brother because every part of my body was swollen up and I also had some issues on my vagina because they used a stick to hit me there. I have the feeling of blood coming out from my vagina but there is no physical blood coming out from it. The school authority did not leave any stone unturned, they made sure i got intensive care”

“When we got to Lcentre, I was rushed to state hospital in Akure so I stayed there for 3 days and was later transferred back to Lcentre because my blood pressure was high and then I was transferred to UCH in Ibadan.”
