OLUSOLA ELEKA: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, has alleged that the Federal Government has moved N18 billion into Ekiti State through Akure airport in Ondo State. Olusola stated that the huge funds were meant to induce the electorate during Saturday’s governorship poll.

Olusola, who is the current deputy governor in the state, alleged that nearly $50 million of the recovered loot of late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, was moved from Abuja in a chartered flight through Akure Airport to Ekiti in two bullion vans to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. But Fayemi debunked the accusation by the PDP candidate, saying that Olusola is “hallucinating”.
Speaking yesterday in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, Director, Media and Publicity of Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organisation, Lere Olayinka, said: “Last week Saturday, two bullion vehicles were moved to the Akure Airport to evacuate cash brought from Abuja by a chartered flight.
The flight landed when it was raining and all staff of the airport was barred from going near the aircraft while the cash was evacuated into the two bullion vehicles. “After offloading the huge cash, the bullion van first moved to the Ondo State Government House in Akure from where they left for Isan Ekiti, the hometown of the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.”

The PDP governorship candidate also alleged that purported preliminary findings indicated that N2.5 billion cash was transferred by a state government to an account in one of the old generation banks in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja He said: “It was withdrawn immediately and moved with a private jet to Akure. Also, apart from the N2.5 billion, another $50 million (about N18 billion) was taken from the $321 million recovered from the late Abacha family.
“Our question is, how can a government that claimed to be fighting corruption release billions of naira from the public coffers for the governorship election of a single state? Where is their fight against corruption?” Olusola urged Nigerians to be aware of what he called “wanton looting of public fund by the APC government to fund election of its candidates.”
His words: “We must tell Fayemi and his APC that the conscience of the people of Ekiti cannot be purchased and we call on the people of Ekiti to resist the planned use of stolen fund to buy their votes of Saturday.”
The governorship candidate equally called the attention of the public to alleged intimidation and harassment of PDP members by men of the Department of State Services (DSS) and policemen.
“Already, an officer of the Federal SARS has been posted to Ekiti State, ostensibly to play the same ignoble role that he played during the Rivers State election. “Let me say it clearly that no amount of intimidation will scare our people away from the polling units where they will vote for the PDP on Saturday.

We have the people behind us and they are more than ready to give our candidate their votes on Saturday.” According to the Director of Media and Publicity Secretary of the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, Mr. Wole Olujobi, the PDP is trying to paint a picture that it is a comradein- crime with APC, “after Fayose’s 2014 poll fraud funded with the loot from the office of the National Security Adviser.”
He said: “Discerning minds will note the lies contained in the story by a single logic that it took Eleka and Olayinka a whole week after the leak of funds movement before they alerted Nigerians about a purported money cargo being offloaded in Akure for Fayemi’s election in Ekiti. “It is also to argue that APC bought Ekiti people’s votes after Saturday’s humiliation of Fayose and Eleka who have set Ekiti people back in their thirst for development.”
Fayemi also faulted Eleka’s claim that policemen assaulted Fayose on Wednesday, explaining that the latest Fayose’s apology to the Police authorities for lying against their officers did not support the claim that police assaulted the governor. “It is great that security details attached to Fayose have confessed that there was no attack on the governor.

“The security details confessed after they were queried for dereliction of duty in the protection of their principal. “Late last night, Fayose sent his aides to the police for forgiveness for lying against their officers. “The police spokesman, this evening, said so. But Eleka is still misinforming Nigerians that the police assaulted Fayose, which then goes to show the quality of his Christian life that he is flaunting to aspire to lead the state.
“Nigerians are expecting the purported pictures showing funds movement to Ekiti State to fund Fayemi’s election, but we know that the pictures cannot be more than the 11 pictures that Fayose threatened to publish to show that President Muhammadu Buhari was on life support machine in the United Kingdom hospital,” the APC candidate explained.
