The National Broadcasting Commission has given its final warning to the Arise TV. The commission accused the private, but popular television of engaging in derogatory and incendiary comments on its programme, “The Morning Show”.
The NBC said that the anchors of the programme allowed the guest person to pass derogatory and incendiary remarks on the legislative, judiciary and executive arms of the government to the extent of calling President Bola Tinubu “a career criminal”.
The television brought the spokesperson of the Labour Party, Kenneth Okonkwo on 6 October, 2023 to get the view of the party on the scandal around the president.
The publicity secretary of the opposition party said, “first of all, I must have to say it is a very sad day for Nigerians and a sad thing that the person that is sitting as their president is a certificate forger that has made the university abroad to refer to forging as a Nigerian thing”.
The National Broadcasting Commission also draws the attention of the television to the codes of conduct for broadcasting stations across the country while warning Arise TV and its staff.
