
NINE passengers were confirmed dead while three others sustained severe injuries in a fatal accident that occurred at Ayetoro area along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday, February 24, 2025.
This was contained in a statement issued by Mrs Florence Okpe, the Public Education Officer, of Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Ogun Sector Command.
Okpe attributed the cause of the crash to speeding and fatigue, which led to loss of control, causing the driver to ram into a stationary truck.
According to her, the accident which happened at about 5: 30a.m, involved a Toyota Hiace bus marked UYY 165 ZY and a truck with registration number DKA 244 XC.

Okpe said that the accident involved 13 people comprising 10 men and three women, adding that six men and three women were recorded dead. She said that the injured victims have been taken to Famobis Hospital in Mowe, while the deceased were deposited at Idera morgue in Sagamu.
The Sector Commander is pained over the recklessness of some drivers for not observing the stipulated speed limit and refusal to obey the 15 minutes rest after 4 hrs journey. He has however sympathized with the family of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact Mowe unit Command for more information about the crash.
